Opsgenie alternative

SutramX vs Opsgenie

Opsgenie shuts down on 5 April 2027. If you used it to page people when monitors fail, SutramX can import your on-call setup and heartbeats, and do the monitoring and the paging together.

Opsgenie is reaching end of life

Atlassian stopped selling Opsgenie on 4 June 2025 and ends support on 5 April 2027, when Opsgenie shuts down; customers are directed to Jira Service Management or Compass. Starting Atlassian's migration tool shuts Opsgenie down 120 days later, so plan the move first. Source

The short version

Opsgenie is an alerting and on-call tool that receives alerts from many sources. SutramX is a monitoring tool with on-call schedules and escalation policies built in, so for teams whose main alert source is uptime and API monitoring, one tool can replace two.

Side by side

Opsgenie details are taken from their public pages as of 6 October 2026. Plans change; check their site for current terms. SutramX details are live from our plan catalogue.

Why teams switch to SutramX

  • Monitoring and paging togetherMonitors, on-call schedules (included on Pro) and escalation policies (on Growth and Pro) live in the same place, so an alert already knows who is on call.
  • Unlimited seats on every plan, including on-callEvery responder can have an account without per-user pricing.
  • Import instead of retypingConnect an Opsgenie API key and import schedules (rotations and overrides), escalation policies and heartbeats after a preview. Heartbeats become heartbeat monitors with new ping URLs to swap into your jobs.
  • Uptime monitoring includedAtlassian's suggested replacements (Jira Service Management and Compass) do not include uptime monitoring. SutramX monitors your sites and APIs, explains every alert, and pages the person on call.
  • Still works with Opsgenie during the moveSutramX can send alerts to Opsgenie, so you can switch monitoring first and paging second.

When Opsgenie is the better choice

  • Many alert sourcesIf you route alerts from dozens of tools (APM, logs, security) into one pager, a dedicated incident platform such as Jira Service Management or PagerDuty fits better; SutramX pages for its own monitors.
  • Advanced routing rulesOpsgenie's alert policies and routing rules are more extensive than SutramX's escalation policies.

Moving from Opsgenie

  1. In Opsgenie, add an API key with Read and Configuration access (Settings → API key management).
  2. Create a free SutramX account, open the import wizard (Settings → Import from another tool), choose the Opsgenie on-call tab, paste the key and pick US or EU. Preview what will be created: schedules (rotations and overrides; on-call schedules are included on Pro), escalation policies (on Growth and Pro) and heartbeats.
  3. Tick Import phone numbers only if you want SMS or voice escalation steps. Nothing is sent automatically: each person gets a confirmation link by email when you send it, and their SMS and voice steps wait until they confirm.
  4. Swap each heartbeat's Opsgenie ping URL for the SutramX URL shown after the import, and work through the follow-up checklist: integrations, routing rules and alert policies are listed with their SutramX equivalents.
  5. Keep the Opsgenie integration on while you test. Once a few real incidents have paged the right person, remove it.

More detail, including any current switching offer, is on the migration page. To see how SutramX decides a site is down, read how we check, and compare plans on the pricing page.
