The SutramX app for Android

Get SutramX on Google Play and sign in with your SutramX account. The app is free; what you can do in it follows your plan and your role in the workspace.

  • Monitors: which are up, with down monitors first, and each monitor's recent incidents. Pause and resume monitoring.
  • Incidents: ongoing, acknowledged and resolved, with the timeline. Acknowledge or resolve in a tap.
  • Push alerts: a notification when a monitor goes down or recovers, with an Acknowledge button on the notification itself.
  • Critical alerts: choose which alerts are critical; they use an alarm channel that can sound with the phone on silent.
  • Workspaces: switch between workspaces and turn push on for each one you want alerts from.
iPhone app not released yet

The iPhone app isn't in the App Store yet. On an iPhone or iPad, install the dashboard to your Home Screen and turn on browser push, as below. Don't install apps from other publishers that claim to be SutramX.

Install the dashboard on your home screen

The SutramX dashboard also works in mobile browsers, and you can install it like an app so it opens full screen, without browser bars:

  • iPhone and iPad (Safari): tap Share, then Add to Home Screen, and open SutramX from the new icon.
  • Android (Chrome): use the browser menu's install or Add to Home screen option.

You sign in the same way as on the website: password, Google, GitHub or SSO, with two-factor authentication if you have turned it on. From there you can see which monitors are up, open an incident and read its timeline.

Push alerts on your phone

Browser push shows a notification on your phone when a monitor goes down or recovers, even when SutramX isn't open. It is included on every plan, Free included.

  1. On iPhone or iPad, add SutramX to your Home Screen first and open it from there. iOS only allows push for web apps opened from the Home Screen.
  2. Sign in and open Integrations & API.
  3. In the Browser push alerts card, tap Turn on in this browser and allow notifications.
  4. Tap Send test to check that alerts arrive.

A down notification reads “Down: monitor name” with the failure reason and the region that saw it. Tapping it opens the incident. Each incident has one notification that is replaced as it changes, so the recovery doesn't stack on top of the down alert. Push is personal: it reaches only the browsers and installed apps where you turned it on, so repeat the steps on each device.

Alerts in the chat apps already on your phone

Slack, Microsoft Teams, Discord, Telegram, Google Chat and Mattermost are included on every plan. Connect one and its mobile app becomes your alert feed. A one-click Slack connection adds an Acknowledge button to down alerts, so you can take an incident without leaving Slack. See Slack, Teams & chat apps.

SMS, WhatsApp and voice calls for urgent alerts

When a chat message is too easy to miss, SutramX can text you, message you on WhatsApp or call you. SMS and WhatsApp alerts are included on Starter, Growth and Pro. Voice calls are included on Growth and Pro. Each message or call uses one credit from your plan's monthly allowance, and routing a number to only your critical monitors saves credits. See WhatsApp uptime alerts and SMS, WhatsApp & voice.

PagerDuty and Opsgenie

If your team already carries the PagerDuty or Opsgenie app, connect it (included on Growth and Pro). A monitor going down triggers a page, acknowledging in SutramX acknowledges it there, and the recovery resolves it. The sync is one-way: acknowledging in PagerDuty or Opsgenie doesn't change the incident in SutramX. See PagerDuty & Opsgenie.

Acknowledging an incident from your phone

Acknowledging tells your team, and your escalation policy, that someone is on it. From a phone you can:

  • tap Acknowledge on the push notification or the incident in the Android app;
  • open the incident in the dashboard and tap Acknowledge;
  • tap Acknowledge on a Slack alert from a one-click Slack connection;
  • tap Acknowledge incident in an escalation email.

Acknowledging stops any active escalation (escalation policies are included on Growth and Pro). See escalation & on-call.

Questions about uptime alerts on your phone

Is there a SutramX mobile app?
Yes, on Android: get SutramX from Google Play (published by SutramX, package com.sutramx.app). The iPhone app is not released yet; on an iPhone, install the dashboard to your Home Screen and turn on browser push. Do not install apps from other publishers that claim to be SutramX.
Do push alerts work on an iPhone?
Yes, through browser push once SutramX is on your Home Screen: iOS only allows push for web apps opened from there. In Safari tap Share, then Add to Home Screen, open SutramX from the new icon and turn on push in Integrations & API.
Which phone alerts are included on the Free plan?
Browser push, email, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Discord, Telegram, Google Chat and Mattermost alerts are all included on the Free plan, so your phone can get downtime alerts without a paid plan. WhatsApp alerts are on Starter, Growth and Pro, with a monthly credit allowance.
Can I acknowledge an incident from my phone?
Yes: tap Acknowledge on the push notification or the incident in the Android app, on the incident in the dashboard, on a Slack alert from a one-click Slack connection, or in an escalation email. This stops any active escalation. Acknowledging in PagerDuty or Opsgenie does not update the incident in SutramX.
Will my phone buzz for every failed check?
No. One failed check never alerts on its own: an alert is sent when SutramX confirms the monitor is down and an incident opens, and a recovery alert follows when it comes back. Each incident has a single push notification that is replaced as the incident changes.
