Connect with Slack
- On the Slack card, click "Connect with Slack".
- Slack opens. Pick the workspace and the channel for alerts, then click Allow.
- You are back in SutramX with the channel connected and a test message posted.
Down alerts sent this way carry an Acknowledge button. Clicking it acknowledges the incident in SutramX, stops any escalation, and shows who acknowledged it in the channel.
Or paste an Incoming Webhook
If your workspace does not allow installing apps, create your own Incoming Webhook and paste it instead (alerts work the same, without the Acknowledge button):
- Go to api.slack.com/apps and choose Create New App → From scratch. Pick the workspace that should receive alerts.
- Under Features, open Incoming Webhooks and switch it on.
- Click "Add New Webhook to Workspace", choose the channel, and allow access.
- Copy the webhook URL. It starts with https://hooks.slack.com/services/.
Anyone with the webhook URL can post into that channel. SutramX stores it encrypted; if it ever leaks, remove the webhook in Slack and connect a new one.
More than one channel
Each Slack connection posts to one channel. To send production alerts to #incidents and staging alerts to #staging-alerts, connect Slack once per channel and give each connection its own routing.
Connect it in SutramX
- Sign in to the SutramX dashboard and open Integrations & API in the sidebar, then the Integrations tab.
- On the Slack card, click Connect. Where you see "Connect with …", you just sign in and approve. Otherwise the card shows two or three short steps and one box to paste into.
- Already have a webhook link? Paste it into the box at the top of the page and SutramX works out which service it belongs to.
- SutramX sends a test straight away so you can confirm delivery before any real incident.
- Optional: use Routing to send only some monitors or groups to this channel.
You can connect more than one Slack destination. Each connection has its own routing, so different channels can receive different monitors.
