Team members & roles
Invite teammates to your SutramX workspace, see exactly what owners, members and viewers can do, remove or revoke access, and review workspace activity.
Invite teammates so they can work on your monitors, incidents and status pages. A workspace has one Owner and any number of Members and Viewers. Team seats are unlimited on every plan.
Manage your team from the sidebar: Account → Team members (https://app.sutramx.com/dashboard/team-members).

If a member tries an owner-only action, it fails with "Workspace owner permission required". A viewer who tries to change anything gets "You have read-only access to this workspace. Ask a workspace owner for member access to make changes." If a member creates or edits a monitor, any per-monitor alert emails in the request are ignored, because only the owner can route alerts. Creating, editing and deleting maintenance windows is owner-only, because a maintenance window silences alerts.
API keys never act as the owner, whoever created them. Standard and Automation keys act with member permissions, and Read-only keys act as a viewer. An API key with the Automation access level can also manage alert channels, but never billing, team or account settings. See Settings & profile.
Plan limits for the team#
Members work inside the owner's workspace, so the owner's plan sets the limits and features for everyone: monitor count, check intervals, regions and feature gates. A member's own plan doesn't apply there. See Workspaces.
Invite a team member#
Only the owner can invite, and the owner's email address must be verified first.
- Open Team members and click Invite member.
- Enter the Email address.
- Choose a Role: Member (can create, edit and delete monitors, incidents and status pages) or Viewer (read-only).
- Click Send invite.
The invitee gets an email titled "{your name} invited you to SutramX" with an Accept invitation button. Things to know:
- People join with the role you chose. You can't invite someone as an owner.
- The link is valid for 7 days.
- The invitee must sign in, or sign up, with the same email address the invite was sent to. Case doesn't matter.
- You can send up to 20 invitations per hour.
Resend or revoke an invitation#
Pending and expired invitations appear in the Members table with the status Invited or Invite expired, and the time left (for example "Invite expires in 6 days").
- Resend sends a fresh link valid for another 7 days. The previous link stops working.
- Revoke cancels the invitation, and the link stops working immediately. No email is sent.
Invitation errors#
| Message | Meaning |
|---|---|
| You are already the workspace owner | You entered your own address |
| This user is already in your workspace | They're already a member |
| Verify your email address before inviting teammates | Verify the owner's email first |
Accept an invitation#
- Click Accept invitation in the email.
- Sign in, or create an account, with the invited email address. Unverified accounts are asked to verify their email first.
- SutramX accepts the invitation and opens the dashboard in the new workspace.
The owner gets an email saying you joined. You keep your own personal workspace. Use the workspace switcher to move between the two. See Workspaces.
| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| This invitation is for a different email address | Sign out and sign in with the invited address |
| Invitation has expired | Ask the owner to resend it |
| Invitation not found or already used | The link was revoked, replaced by a resend, or already accepted |
| Verify your email address before accepting this invitation | Verify your email, then open the link again |
If the workspace uses single sign-on with automatic account creation, people from your verified email domains can join by signing in through your identity provider, without an invitation. They join as viewers unless the owner chose member in the SSO settings, or with the role of an invitation they already have.
The members table#
| Column | Shows |
|---|---|
| Member | Name and email. Your row is marked "(you)" |
| Role | Owner, Member or Viewer. The owner can switch a member between Member and Viewer here |
| Status | Active, Invited, Invite expired or Inactive |
| Joined / last active | When they joined and when they were last active, or when they were invited |
| Actions | Resend, Remove, Revoke or Leave, depending on your role |
Remove a member#
- In the Members table, click Remove next to the person.
- Confirm with Remove member.
They lose access to the workspace immediately and get an email saying they were removed. Their own account and personal workspace aren't affected. If they had the workspace open, their next action fails and the dashboard moves them back to their own workspace.
Removing someone doesn't remove them from alert recipient lists or escalation policies. Update those separately.
Leave a workspace#
Members can leave at any time:
- Open Team members in the workspace you want to leave.
- Click Leave workspace (or Leave on your row) and confirm.
You lose access immediately and return to your own workspace. The owner can invite you again later. The owner can't leave their own workspace. To close it, delete it instead (see Workspaces).
Transfer ownership#
Ownership can't be transferred in the app yet. If you need to hand a workspace over to someone else, contact support@sutramx.com.
Workspace activity#
The owner sees an Activity section on the Team members page. It lists security-relevant changes, newest first, 20 per page (Newer / Older):
- Invited a team member, Removed a team member, Left the workspace
- Created an API key, Deleted an API key
- Created, Updated or Deleted a status page
- Set, Verified or Removed a status page custom domain
- Scheduled workspace deletion, Cancelled workspace deletion
- Exported workspace data
- Single sign-on changes and imports
Each entry shows who did it, or System for automatic actions, and when. The latest 5,000 entries are also included in the workspace data export.
