Workspaces

How SutramX workspaces work, what belongs to each one, how to switch between them, whose plan applies, and what happens when a workspace is deleted.

A workspace holds everything you monitor: monitors, incidents, status pages, alert settings and integrations. Every account has its own personal workspace. You can also work in other people's workspaces when they invite you.

Your personal workspace#

When you sign up, SutramX creates a personal workspace for you, named after you (for example "Priya's workspace", or "My workspace" if you didn't give a name). You're its Owner. It starts on the Free plan and includes a public status page so you can get going straight away.

You can't create additional workspaces of your own, and workspaces can't be renamed. To run separate environments or clients, use monitor groups and tags inside your workspace.

Joining other workspaces#

You join someone else's workspace when its owner invites you and you accept. If the workspace uses SSO with automatic account creation, you can also join by signing in with SSO. You join as a Member or a read-only Viewer, depending on the role the owner chose. See Team members & roles for what each role can do.

You can belong to any number of workspaces. Your account (login, password, 2FA, profile) stays the same in all of them.

Switch workspaces#

When you belong to more than one workspace, an Active workspace menu appears at the top of the sidebar. Each entry shows the workspace name and your role, for example "Acme's workspace (member)".

Choose a workspace to switch. The dashboard reloads in that workspace. Things to know:

  • Your own workspaces are listed first.
  • The choice is remembered per browser tab, and new tabs open in the workspace you used last.
  • Each time you sign in, you start in your personal workspace.
  • If you lose access to the workspace you're in (for example, you were removed), the dashboard moves you back to your own.

API keys belong to a workspace and only work on that workspace's data. If you work in several workspaces, create a key in each one. See Settings & profile.

Whose plan applies#

A workspace runs on its owner's plan. When you work in someone else's workspace, their plan's limits and features apply (monitor count, check interval, regions, status pages and so on), not your own. Only the owner can change the plan or see billing.

For example, if you're on Free but you're a member of a workspace whose owner is on Growth, you can use Growth features inside that workspace, and only there. See Plans & limits.

Delete a workspace#

Only the owner can delete a workspace, from Account settings → Danger zone (Account → Settings in the sidebar).

  • If it's the only workspace you own, the card is called Delete account, and your SutramX account is deleted too.
  • Otherwise it's called Delete workspace, and your account is kept.

To delete:

  1. Click Delete account… (or Delete workspace…).
  2. Confirm with Your password. Accounts without a password type DELETE.
  3. Click the red Delete account (or Delete workspace) button.

You get an email "Your SutramX account is scheduled for deletion". Nothing is erased for 30 days.

During the 30-day grace period#

While deletion is pending, the workspace is suspended:

  • Monitoring stops, and no checks run.
  • No alerts, weekly reports, SSL/domain expiry or maintenance emails are sent.
  • Public status pages are offline.
  • Members lose access immediately. The workspace disappears from their switcher.
  • You, the owner, are signed out everywhere. You can sign in again to read data, export it, or cancel. Any other change fails with "This workspace is scheduled for deletion. Cancel the deletion to make changes."

The Team members page and Account settings → Danger zone show a banner with the purge date.

Cancel a deletion#

Sign in within 30 days and click Cancel deletion on either banner. Everything comes back exactly as it was. Monitors that were active resume checking within seconds, and paused ones stay paused. You get an email "Your SutramX account deletion was cancelled". Sign in again on your other devices, because all sessions were ended when you requested the deletion.

After 30 days#

SutramX permanently deletes the workspace and all its data, cancels any paid subscription, and, if you own no other workspace, deletes your account. You get a final "Your SutramX account has been deleted" email. This can't be undone.

Suspended by SutramX#

If SutramX suspends the workspace owner's account, the workspace is suspended the same way as during a pending deletion: monitoring, alerts and public status pages stop until the suspension is lifted. The owner sees "Your account has been banned. Please contact support for review." when signing in. Contact support@sutramx.com.

Common questions#

Can I move monitors between workspaces? Not directly. Recreate them in the other workspace.

Can I hand my workspace to a colleague? Ownership can't be transferred in the app yet. Contact support@sutramx.com.

I left a workspace by mistake. Ask its owner to invite you again.
